Do What You Love HQ Update – April 2015

dwylhq

April has been a momentous month for us here at DWYL HQ. Our team is finally complete. We have laid what we believe to be strong foundations and we are now in a position to implement our grand plans and embrace all the wonderful new opportunities that lie ahead.

The month was littered with highlights, however there is really only one place I can start. I have the great pleasure to introduce our newest team member, Rose. Rose is our new Marketing Officer & Community Manager and you can read all about her in tomorrow’s blog post. Beth and I couldn’t be happier with the team we have in place and we look forward to seeing everyone flourish and grow as the company continues to go from strength to strength.

After months and months of planning and hard work, The Business Soul Sessions is back!

A few kind words from past students…

“This course was pivotal for me. It helped me gain a professional confidence and business identity that I didn’t know I was even missing.” ~ Noelle Rollins

“My business has grown at least 300% and my network and knowledge have expanded exponentially because of this course.” Sandra Dumais

“The Business Soul Sessions changed my entire approach to everything I did. It changed how I thought about business and living the life of a business person. I taught myself to value my talents, my time and my efforts. I would tell anyone who is in a business that relies on creativity, imagination and ingenuity that they really need to do this course. It will pay for itself and you’ll look back in time and be so grateful that you invested in your soul work”. ~ Kass Hall

This month Beth was invited to The Royal Institution to participate in a debate organised by Barclays. Their LifeSkills programme is certainly generating positive change and the topic for discussion was whether ‘Doing What You Love’ is good career advice or not. I certainly don’t have to tell you what side of the fence we were all on. It was great to be able to take our team to the event and see first hand such important issues like this being discussed. I know I left feeling even more empowered and motivated by our work. You can find out more about the debate on Twitter #BarclaysDebate.

4. The latest term of MATS A + B courses has just finished and the growth of the students and the quality of their work is a perfect testimonial for the insightful and challenging content that both Lilla and Beth have created. In particular returning students have impressed Lilla immensely.

5. Assignment Bootcamp returned this month with the most exciting and talked about assignment to date. The students were given the task to create a poster for the Live Event and the winning piece would receive payment as if it was a paying gig. The Facebook groups were inundated with discussion and it took a few wise words from our Fairy Art Mother and Beth to re-focus the group. The opportunity provided to them was a great one and the work submitted is quite amazing. We will be able to unveil the winning poster next month.

The design school classes (listed below) are under way and the energy and passion is palpable.

Our thought for the month:

I’m writing this post from a café in Philadelphia, US. As I sit here, with my cup of coffee and my laptop, I can’t help but be grateful for the freedom and flexibility that running an online business brings. Not only can I work anywhere, at any time, I get to spend more time with my family, and more time doing things I enjoy – running, writing, watching films and having adventures. Of course it isn’t always easy, every day brings new challenges and responsibilities, as well as fresh opportunities for learning and growth, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Nothing beats living life on your own terms.
If you run your own business what are the biggest and best benefits for you? Please do post in the comments below, we’d love to hear what motivates you…

So that’s it from me. Have a great month – I’ll be back next month.

Until next time,

Mr. K
