PS A lot of people have been asking about the difference between this free course How to Get a Book Deal and my course The Book Proposal Masterclass (which runs live for four weeks from May 19). It’s a good question! How to Get a Book Deal is the WHAT – it is an introduction to the world of writing books and getting published. It gives you an insight into what you need to do to get a book deal, busts a few urban myths and inspires you to take your book dream seriously. You will come away with a better idea of how it all works and what you will need to do if you want to get traditionally published. There is no community for the free class – it is just me sharing five valuable video-based lessons.
The Book Proposal Masterclass on the other hand is the HOW – it is a deep dive into the process, where I hand-hold you through the development of a commercially compelling book proposal, teach you the ins and outs of getting an agent and a publisher, teach you about the money aspect and the business of writing, as well as support you on the emotional rollercoaster of it all. It is a practical yet soulful course with a very hands-on approach from me (we workshop titles and sub-titles, shape your ideas together, you can put questions to me and to my own agent and so on) and you get access to a tight-knit community of other people with a book dream, who will most likely become supporters for you and your book(s) for years to come. HOW DOES IT WORK?
Class runs for five days online in a private classroom. Lessons will be released at 5am UK time daily from Monday May 12 – Friday May 16 but you do not have to be online at that time. You can just log in whenever suits you. You will have access to all content until Oct 31, 2026.

This workshop is primarily for non-fiction, as that is my area of expertise, but you are welcome to join because some elements of it will be valuable for you whatever you want to write.
