Get your book proposal honed, polished, and pitched with 1:1 Book Proposal Mentoring from me, Beth Kempton.

I know what it’s like to have a book dream, and a book idea, but be terrified about actually sending it to an agent or publisher. This writing business is a nerve-wracking one, and it can make all the difference to have a mentor in your corner who has been there and done it. I am a published author of four books, with 42 book deals with publishers all over the world. Writing books has changed my life and opened so many doors I didn’t even know were there. And it all began with that first book proposal. As the founder of Do What You Love I have also helped many thousands of people to navigate major changes in life, and as your mentor I will be your champion and guide as you navigate what lies ahead.

In response to multiple requests from my writing community over the past few months, I have decided to open up a handful of slots for 1:1 non-fiction book proposal mentoring. Due to my own writing commitments (I am currently working on my fifth book) I can only offer this during a very tight window in August/September 2021 and will not have any further openings until Spring 2022 at the earliest. If you want to book, I encourage you to do it now to avoid disappointment!

Here’s what you get:

  • One 30-minute 1:1 get-to-know-you Zoom call where I ask you a host of questions to understand your background, motivations for your book and general book idea. This will give me context for reviewing your proposal.
  • A full broad strokes proposal review OR and in-depth review of one major section of your proposal, such as the Overview – the choice is yours. (You will be asked to email me your document and I will take a couple of weeks to review it)
  • One 90-minute 1:1 Zoom call where I provide feedback on my key recommendations and you can ask me anything you want
  • An audio recording of our calls
  • A written summary of my recommendations following our second call

Please note this mentoring is intended for people who are already quite far along with their non-fiction book proposals. I highly recommend that you take my Book Proposal Masterclass first, if you haven’t already. Please note ‘non-fiction’ does include memoir, but I do not offer mentoring for fiction proposals.

If this all sounds good to you, please check the booking window below to make sure the timings will work for you:

  • 30-minute get-to-know-you call slots are available between Thursday 26 August and Friday 10 September
  • 90 minute review call slots are available between Monday 6 September and Thursday 30 September

If you want to go ahead, simply click ‘Register Now’ and check out, then you will receive an email with details of how to book onto the sessions at a mutually convenient time.

If these times are not convenient, feel free to email [email protected] to get on the waiting list for my next round of mentoring sessions in Spring 2022.

If you have any questions about whether this would be a good fit for you, please feel free to email me at [email protected].

I look forward to helping you bring your book dream to life!
Beth

Important note

Please be aware that although I am proud to say nearly all my mentees have gone on to secure a literary agent and/or book deal, mentoring does not guarantee a book deal. So much of it depends on you, your book idea, your platform, your attitude, your commitment and the market situation, that I am unable to make such a guarantee, but I can promise that you will be giving your book idea its best chance.
