Introducing Do What You Love’s newest recruit – Vickie Binz

dwylhq

To ensure we are in a position to help each and every one of you, we are continuing to grow our team. I have the great pleasure to introduce you to the newest member of the Do What You Love family, Victoria Binz.

Vickie will be taking on the role of Digital Strategy and Marketing Manager here at DWYL HQ. We first met Vickie when we interviewed her for an alternative position but as we chatted it became clear that she could have a much more profound affect in this role – a role which we hope will help her achieve her personal goals.

We’re thrilled that she has chosen to join us, even though I now get homework! – MR K

When Paul asked me to write a bit about myself for Do What You Love’s website I had to think quite hard because has there ever been a vaster question than “who are you?”. I found myself reflecting on my life and wondering: ‘what do I want?’, ‘what am I doing?’,  ‘should I have a plan?’, ‘why don’t I have it all figured out?’ and ‘where do I see myself in five years?’.

For someone who doesn’t really plan, five years seems a very long way off. But when I think back over the last five years I can’t believe how quickly time has gone and how much has happened: I volunteered in Africa – twice, I moved to London from Switzerland (where I’m from) to work for a big advertising group, I travelled, I started freelancing for another big advertising group, I moved to Brighton, I travelled some more, I enjoyed some time off, and then I landed this exciting new job at Do What You Love. Did I have any idea all this would happen 5 years ago? No way.

I believe that being open to new possibilities, a little randomness and the synchronisity of life is the key to happiness. I may not have had a plan five years ago, but I never felt lost or confused. In fact, looking back, it all makes perfect sense. Everything I did helped me find out more about myself, what I like and what I want out of life.

This way of thinking is what has led me to work with Do What You Love. Recently, I’d been looking for an opportunity that would combine my love of work with my desire to do something I believe in. I met Beth and Paul while interviewing for a job at one of their partner’s companies. They didn’t give me the job. Instead, they offered me a job at Do What You Love, which turns out to be a much better fit. These people clearly know what they’re talking about!

This is such an exciting opportunity that combines everything I could wish for: my experience in digital marketing; a hands-on job where I’ll be learning new skills; and the opportunity to meet lots of talented and inspiring people. All this while helping people to live more fulfilling lives doing what they love. What’s more, I get to work from home, live by the sea, work flexible hours and do all the things I love – going to the beach, riding my scooter and growing tomatoes!
