What the tarot reader said… (and this is no word of a lie)

A lot of things happened during my maternity leave, most notably the arrival of our gorgeous baby girl Maia. But another that really stands out in my mind was a visit to a tarot reader in Brighton, just before we moved house.

If you had said the word ‘tarot reader’ to me a few years ago I would have rolled my eyes as the sceptic that I used to be. But then a couple of years ago, one of our collaborators—the wonderful Lilla Rogers—insisted we have a joint reading done before signing our partnership renewal contract. No pressure then! As it turns out, the reader (who pretty much blew my mind), said we have a very strong karmic connection, hinted at by the fact the same karma cards kept coming up again and again. And then she said we had known each other in several past lives, including one when we were travelling male musicians in Ireland, and another where I was a shaman and Lilla was my assistant. As you might imagine, we signed that contract pretty much as soon as we got out the door, and Lilla continues to be a dream to work with.

With that, my curiosity was officially piqued. I have been back twice since, once getting a valuable insight which helped me make a major business decision, and once a couple of months ago, just before we moved house.

In it, the guy doing the reading was so insightful it made my spine tingle. As soon as I sat down he said “I sense movement. Are you just about to move house?” “Well yes, actually. In about a week.” Fluke, perhaps, but then he went on to describe our new house with an uncanny degree of accuracy. He went on to give insights into private conversations he can’t have known anything about. And then there was the frog.

In the weeks leading up to the reading, our toddler Sienna had been saying the word ‘frog’ over and over. She would just come up to me and stare at me, and keep saying ‘frog’, completely out of context of what we were talking about or doing at the time. I thought she might just be practicing the taste of a new word on her tongue, but it was weird how she said it so often. And then towards the end of the reading, the reader said, “By the way, the whole time you have been sat there I have seen a frog hovering over your head.” What??? Apparently it is a symbol of good luck and happiness, so nothing to worry about, but that is too much of a coincidence for me!

One of the major pieces of advice he gave me was to think about my life in nine year cycles, of which I am currently in year one of the current cycle. Apparently all the plans I lay this year will make a huge difference to the next eight years. He said, “Whatever you do, make sure you sit down somewhere quiet before the end of the year and write a very full list of everything you can think of that you might want to manifest in the next eight years, before the end of this year.” That was back in August. It’s now November, and I still haven’t done it. So that is this weekend’s job!

Whether it’s true or not, whether doing this will make any difference or not, I like the idea of sitting down and imagining many possible scenarios for the next eight years, as my little girls grow up, and a world of opportunities lies ahead.

November is also the time that we release our wildly popular free resource ‘New Year’s Revolution’. This is the fourth year we have shared this, and it has been downloaded by many thousands of people who have used it as a tool to help make the coming year amazing. I hope you’ll join me in using it to put your ideas on paper for the year ahead, and make it one to remember.

This week I challenge you to find some time—whether half an hour or a whole day—to plan your own New Year’s Revolution!
