Christmas is coming! (+ studio renovation!)

 Christmas - noel

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… For me the Christmas music goes on from November 1 (along with some cheeky fairy lights), and then when December 1 comes round the tree goes up, the mince pies go in the oven and the merriment begins.

I love all the build up – the hours spent choosing the perfect presents and wrapping them, going for long walks in frosty nature, singing carols with gloved hands wrapped around hot mulled wine… Christmas is one of my very favourite times of year.

We have had a wonderful time away in Japan for much of this year, but I am so happy to be back in England for the festive season. As part of our preparations we shuffled the rooms around and decided to recorate my old studio, turning it into my office. It is the lightest room in the house, with three big windows and lovely pale wooden floors reclaimed from an old school gymnasium, so it is a great place for me to spend many hours.

The blue walls are gone, and everything is much simpler now. My big glass desk sits at one end, along with all my design books and files, and we have made the other end really cosy, with sofas, a fireplace and of course a freshly cut tree (see above!)

Growing up, Christmas decorations were an explosion of colour, but this year we have decided to keep it minimal, with lots of white and silver (must be the Japan influence).

Ooooh Christmas is coming and I love it!

How about you? Are you ready? How have you decorated this year?
