Tucked away down a quiet street in the trendy Tokyo district of Shimokitazawa is a shop that might just take your breath away. Its rough concrete walls and wire shelves sit alongside old wooden furniture and quirky lampshades, all playing host to the beautiful products offered by fog linen. Carefully curated to offer delight at every turn, the natural colours of the linen – shaped into clothing, bags, children’s shoes, napkins and all sorts of other goods, are calming and enticing.
I have admired fog from afar for many years, turning to their beautiful website for quiet inspiration, and fawning over the simple beauty of their linen products, all made with love in Lithuania – so it was a treat to be able to pop into the bricks and mortar building.
The Shimokitazawa shop is their only store, and upstairs houses their designers. In the hush of the sunny Tokyo morning as I perused the shelves, the laughter of their happy staff echoed down the stairs. It’s hard to put my finger on exactly why, but I love fog and I think you might too…
